There is a high wind warning going into effect this afternoon. In fact, I just had to go up and secure our tables and chairs on the upper deck. I do respect the Canadians when they issue a high wind warning. I remember cruising once with Lew and Gretchen and the high wind was late coming. I recall saying, "High wind warning my ass", and then really regretting that comment a short time later. We are docked in an area where we are really sheltered from the wind and the waves. Conditions will be rougher for Brillig as their dock is more exposed.
Annie docked at Tobermory
We both slept in today, just listening to the rain and all warm and snuggled in our bed. We made blueberry pancakes and bacon for breakfast after Kerry returned from the grocery. Marianna had called from there and said they just got restocked and things were going fast. Provisioning is a big deal around here.
I spent the morning trying to get reservations at Mackinaw Island, Leland, De Tour, and Petoskey with limited success. I am reminded of what happens when you don't plan out a cruise to the 10th degree, you can get shut out of places. Fortunately, at least until we get to Lake Michigan's East shore, there are many anchorages available. We will be playing it by ear. I was also reminded of how crowded it gets when all the sailors form the Chicago and Port Huron races to Mackinaw show up.
We have a fun evening planned with the Orros. Drinks and salad on Brillig, pasta on Annie, and back to Brillig for desert and fireworks. I hope the weather will permit the show. High winds, rain and fireworks don't seem to work well together .
The sun popped out at 5:00, just as we made our way to Brillig. We had appetizers, drinks and salad on Brillig. Cacio e Pepe pasta will be served on Annie. Marianna made blondies for desert.
We were able to do some coordination with Peter for the remainder of the cruise. Tomorrow we plan to go to Cove Island anchorage. Peter will remain here and we will meet Sunday in Club Island anchorage, and then go to Killarney on Monday, July 4th.
80's and sunny in Ohio. Hope you have great weather and safe boating!
