Killarney Happy July 4, 2016

It was a beautiful morning to start our July 4th in Canada. There is nothing better than having your morning coffee sitting in a quiet anchorage on Annie's top deck. This is what we dream about during the winter months.

After coffee, I got the kayak out and paddled over to Brillig, but they were sound asleep. So back at Annie I started trying to rub out a scratch while sitting in the kayak. Kerry heard me and quickly joined me for a ride.

Marianna was awake this time when we paddled over. She gave us a box of little white powered donuts and also some corm bread that she baked yesterday. I told her she has really set our expectations for a treat when we paddle over in the future! Back at Annie for breakfast tea, we enjoyed her treats.

It turns out that Peter had a migraine last night and hardly slept. We agreed to a later leaving and he was able to get a couple hours of sleep this morning. We read and just enjoyed the morning. It was finally warm enough that I could sit outside and read. The water was so clear and beautiful that I wanted to go for a swim. But knowing that it is only 57 F discouraged me.

We pulled anchors at noon. The trip to Killarney was 19.5 miles, and we arrived at 2:40, with an average speed of 7.3 knots. On the way over I drafted a Harbor Report for the Great Lakes Cruising Club for James Bay. They do not have one and one is requested from a cruiser. Following is our course to Killarney.

When approaching Killarney the first prominent structure seen is the lighthouse on the east side of the Killarney Channel. In the channel you are welcomed to the North Channel by a big sign.

We are staying at the Sportsman Inn. It is under new ownership and is quite nice. We will be grilling hamburgers on Annie to celebrate July 4th. Dessert will be on Brillig. We are staying one night and then heading off to another anchorage.

I will catch up the blog if we do not have wifi or Verizon. That is what happened last night.

We had a great all American dinner on Annie. I grilled hamburgers, Kerry baked beans, and Marianna made a great pasta salad. Kerry set a festive table on our upper deck, and wowed Peter with a brownie (Rosemary's), chocolate pudding, French Vanilla ice cream treat.
