We left Northport after breakfast and after a shower for Don. We are working on the second box of little white donuts. Jim had cereal too. The trip to Leland was 24.8 miles. We made it is three hours. As we approached the harbor I noted that no boats had recently gone in, and thought that we could get right to the fuel dock for diesel and a pump out. Well, in the last mile 3 fast motorboats zoomed by and 2 of the three went to the fuel dock. We had about a 20 minute wait.
The dock they assigned us is a hard on to get in and out. I actually backed in because I thought it would be easier to get out. It is right against a pier and swinging out away from it will be challenging. The dock boy congratulated me on getting in so well. Thank goodness for the bow and stern thrusters. This was Jim's last trip on Annie this voyage. We have had nothing but good weather and great seas while he has been here.
It is pretty here. Leland is an historic fishing village. It is across from the Manitou Islands, and just north of Sleeping Bear Dunes. We were fortunate to get in because the place is packed. After check in we went to lunch at a restaurant right on the old waterway.
We did one final tiny project after lunch. I adjusted the gauge on my fuel tank. It moved closer to full than it was, but not all the way. Today the depth sounder on my chart plotter stopped working for a few minutes, the second time in the last week this has happened. This bares watching.
Jim and I toured the shopping area. It was a quick trip and we were back to Annie. We read, looked at boats and snoozed the afternoon away. I spoke with Kerry about 5:00. She said she wanted to stay here on Wednesday when I thought we were leaving. I spoke to Russell the Harbormaster who said we could stay, which was a relief for me.
Cocktails were martinis on the upper deck and the snack of choice was pistachios. Jim found a new bag in our snack box. It was not pretty, but all the nuts were gone in short order. We grilled hamburgers and had a nice garden salad for dinner. Pralines and cream ice cream cones proved to be a delicious dessert.
There was a map of the Great Lakes in the shower facility. We are in Lake Michigan, in the upper right section . We need to travel up to the Mackinac Bridge, down Lake Huron, down the St Clair River, through Lake St Clair, down the Detroit River and through the west end of Lake Erie to get home. Quite a trip ahead of us.
Tomorrow we plan to clean Annie in anticipation of Kerry and Jola's arrival.
